Helpful Highlights
The Snow Storm Relief Team was highlighted during tonight’s Board meeting. This team comprises custodians, maintenance workers, transportation office staff, and mechanics. We are so grateful for the men and women who spent hours working hard, clearing and salting parking lots and sidewalks, removing ice, and ensuring campuses were safe. Superintendent’s Report
Dr. Lori Jones shared a video explaining various budgeting practices and state funding that impact staffing at our schools. The staffing formula is based on projected student enrollment. Specific questions were raised prior to the board meeting related to staffing projections at the high school. Dr. Jones shared a video that she shared with the teachers. She reiterated that SBDM councils make decisions related to staffing and schedules after the board gives their allocations.
School ReportMrs. Paige Samples, Principal of Southside Elementary, and Mrs. Mackenzie Durr, Administrative Dean of Southside Elementary, presented on the following topics occurring at Southside: project-based learning (PBL), the House System , and professional learning communities (PLCs). These three main areas of focus have positively impacted the culture, sense of belonging, attendance, and learning experience at Southside. Board Presentations
Explorer Time Company (ETC): Kim Johnson (Coordinator of District-Wide Programs) and Ashley Sullivan (ETC Director) presented on Explorer Time Company (ETC). ETC is after-school childcare offered by the district. In an overview of finances, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Sullivan explained the funding, staffing, and tuition of ETC. New High School Project Update: WCPS Chief Operations Officer Dr. Josh Rayburn provided updates to the Board regarding expanding the parking lot and making a decision that the district and high school maintenance team can manage the spring box. The district recommended to the board P & R Construction to move forward with 100 additional parking spaces. The district to the board also recommended to the board to not move forward with the contract proposals for the spring box.
Curriculum & Instruction Update: WCPS Chief Academic Officer Ryan Asher presented on positive trends in data regarding a variety of areas, for example students in Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Click here to view the presentation with visuals and more information.

The Consent Agenda was approved, which included donations, fundraisers, travel, declaration of surplus property, grant requests, release of liability waivers, contracts, tuition schedule, and notification of FRC Continuation Program Plan (CPP).
Regular Agenda Items:
The board designated the Woodford County School Board Treasurer and approved the Central Office reorganization, notification of personnel matters and payment of bills, January financial report/treasurer’s report, minutes of the January Board meetings, hardship requests, migrant education program staffing request, ETC summer program tuition increase, high school parking lot expansion, high school spring box project, and SFCC construction officer.
