⭐️ Students at Woodford County High School Build a Beautiful Gazebo for Fall Festival ⭐️

The creative, passionate small business owners in our community recently hosted a unique fall festival based on a beloved television show. In the TV show, there is a gazebo which is a character of the show in its own unique way. Reagan Berry, along with Becca Lowe and Emily Riddle, were the leaders of this event. Reagan, who is also a parent of children in Woodford County Public Schools, says, "The gazebo is an icon of the show. It's the center of the community. It's where so many conversations, special moments, festivals, proposals, and more take place in the town. We knew we needed to have a gazebo." Reagan and the planning team reached out to local leaders to see about obtaining a gazebo. The idea was sparked that a gazebo could be built specifically for this event, and that our Agriculture program at the high school might just be the perfect fit for this project. 

When Mr. Conner Richardson, Agriculture teacher at WCHS, was approached with the idea, he knew it was something he wanted his students to do. Mr. Richardson is always looking for projects that go beyond teaching skills and lessons; he loves to help connect kids to their community and deeper purpose. Supported by the Woodford County Fiscal Court, Mr. Richardson's Agriculture Structures and Design class began building the gazebo. 

As evident in this video and in the photos, the gazebo came together through the collaborative efforts and hard work of many students and the adults supporting them. 

LJ Dragoo, junior at WCHS, says, "Building the gazebo offered a great opportunity for us to use our skills and learn even more about construction. It felt special to be involved in this event. It made us feel valued by the community to have us do this project as students. They trusted us with this."

The gazebo was an integral part of the festival. Thank you to our students, teachers, and community partners for making this event a reality. 

We also want to thank Woodford Cheer, Woodford FCCLA, Woodford Lacrosse, Woodford Wrestling, and Project Graduation for their involvement. Thank you to our student musicians and troubadours. These groups added so much to the experience. 💛
